OLYMPUS PRESIDENT FEATURED IN NATIONAL TRADE MAGAZINE
Olympus President Johan DeLeeuw was profiled in the March 2008 edition of Limousine Digest Magazine. The 1500 word, 4 page profile included multiple photos of Johan and was mailed out to the magazines 14,000 plus subscribers and posted on their website in mid-March.
Industry Consultant and Limousine Digest contributing writer Tom Mazza cited the young entrepreneur’s background and the circumstances that brought Johan to the Limousine industry as reasons the story would be interesting to readers. “The fact that Johan is a trained Chef and worked at his trade makes for an interesting story. Add in that he is from the Netherlands and kind of stumbled into the business makes for good reading.”
Mazza said it is also important to the magazine’s readers that they be able to relate to the operators who are profiled. “Seventy percent of our readers are home-based and running about 5 cars. Johan started as his own chauffeur and has built Olympus the old fashioned way, serving one client at a time. The’ Olympus story’, the fact that the company has a downtown office, a national network, and a real ‘team’ is the next stage of development for many of our readers. It gives them hope and hopefully some information to help with the growth process. It is inspiring.”
Johan says the positive publicity the article generated already within the industry is important to Olympus. “A very significant part of our business model is inbound work from other limousine companies and national limousine networks from around the world. The fact that more companies know who we are is very positive and the fact that the article put us in a very favorable light is wonderful.” Johan is in the process of sending the article to his industry data base as well as to thousands of “one time Olympus passengers.” He says, “It is a very small universe of people that are users or potential users of a limousine service. We are always reaching out to them.”
Johan will be a featured speaker at the 2008 Limousine Digest Show in October in Atlantic City, NJ.
